11 Months

DSCN1508

DSCN1517

Look who’s already 11 months old? I’m having a tough time believing that next month he’ll be a year old! Here’s what’s new with Colton this month…

* He’s walking, EVERYWHERE !

* He hate baby food, he does however love oatmeal and yogurt.

* He is such a sweet natured, smilie little boy- very easy to please.

* He still loves to cuddle with his momma during naps and bedtime (and his momma doesn’t mind it one bit!)

* He wants whatever his sister has, he has already discovered what drives her crazy.

Lately

Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to lately…

DSCN1466

Delaney is really into having matching clothes with her little bitty baby- so I made some pajama pants for her and her baby, and a pair for me. They weren’t as easy as I had hoped but they turned out pretty cute and she loves them so its was worth it!

what happens when she dresses herself for dance class, silly girl. I was able to talk her out of the sunglasses by the time we got there, but everything else stayed. She was definitely the best dressed that day!

DSCN1488

This is Colton’s new favorite pastime, he likes to sit at the top of the stairs and throw things down. Everything he gets in his hands ends up down the stairs… I find interesting things down there!

And this is what happens when I fall asleep during naptime, and she doesn’t. (she was fully clothed and the room was fairly tidy when I put her down.)

Goals for a New Year..

Ok- so rarely do I have New year's resolutions (partly because I never keep them, and partly because deep down I’m pretty sure I’m already awesome) but this year I do have some things in my life I’d like to work on, I haven’t been sure if I wanted to post them , cause despite my general awesome-ness there is a good chance I might not get there, BUT I figured if I wrote them down and let you all read them I might be shamed into sticking it out…

so (Deep breath) here it goes….

1. Make healthier choices. Eat more fruits and veggies and less (hopefully a lot less) processed, out of the box foods.

2. Run a 5k. In the interest of full disclosure I already started working on this one a few months ago and am pretty close to looking for a race. NOW before you think I’ve flipped a lid, I don’t care in the least what my time is, I just want to run the whole thing without dropping dead. Not to lose weight, but just to get back into exercising and feeling better.

3. DO things, not THINK about doing things. I am terrible about this one. I have so many things I want to do or try and for some reason I get all in my head and talk myself out of them for fear of failure or embarrassment or whatever. I hate this about myself, and I can already see my little Laney girl doing the same, holding back, watching. So I’m going to set the example (or try) and get out there and do the things I’ve only been “thinking about”. Because, really, when you’re this awesome you can take a little failure ? :)

** Side note- before you think I’ve completely lost my mind and will now be running every morning and jumping out of airplanes, trust me I won’t. I’m talking about things like going to my neighbors and asking her to come over for coffee so we can get to know each other (btw that didn’t exactly go as planned) - so don’t expect wild and craziness!

Here’s hoping…

Anyone else want to post their goals so I feel less like a dork??

Walking…

This started around Christmas Eve but I’ve been trying to ignore it! Walking at only 10 months (his daddy walked at 8!)

Oh my, what happened to my sweet 6lb baby, wish he’d stay little awhile longer!

According to Delaney

Delaney explaining why one of her little Calico Critters is in time out…. do you think this is something she has experienced herself lately? Cracked me up!

Cheddar Chicken

Here's my new favorite chicken recipe (Ryan even likes it)

(serves 4)

16 Ritz crackers (about 3/4 cup) crushed ( I give them to Laney in a bag and let her do this part)

6 oz of sharp Cheddar cheese, grated

1 clove of garlic, finely chopped ( I never have this so sometimes I use garlic powder or no garlic at all)

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

4 Tbsp melted butter

* Heat oven to 350. In a bowl combine the crackers, cheese garlic and salt and pepper to taste.

* Dip chicken in butter then cracker mixture then place on a foil lined baking sheet.

* Sprinkle remaining mixture onto chicken then bake until chicken is golden brown. (25-30 min)

Enjoy!

Ringing in the New Year

This year we spent New Years with The Waters at Stoneridge. After all the running around and craziness of Christmas it was wonderful to get away and have some time to relax. It was beautiful but freezing! We spent the entire long weekend eating, sleeping, swimming and sledding. I think we were all in heaven- definitely my kind of vacation- with lots of downtime!

Me and the girlies snuggled up watching the Rose Parade.

It took FOREVER to get the kids all bundled up but it was beautiful outside- so well worth it. Laney didn’t really like sledding so she spend most of her time playing at the bottom of the hill… but the rest of us had a blast!

So fun- hope we decide to go back next year…. hint hint Fran!

Christmas 2010

Once again we were blessed with a fun and crazy Christmas. This year Delaney was SO very excited for all things Christmas and it was Colt’s first Christmas, so we did a lot of celebrating!

DSCN1338DSCN1383

Laney wrote a letter to Santa, and was thrilled when he wrote back (I didn’t do this- we have a wonderful mail lady!)

DSCN1282DSCN1286

We began the festivities a few weeks early while my brother Andrew was home- so the kids opened presents for about a month!

DSCN1273DSCN1419

Much to Laney’s delight Grammie and Grandpa made sure she and bitty baby didn’t run out of matching outfits.

The next weekend we went to Aunt Tami’s and celebrated with the Wieselers. All the little girls got dress up clothes from GG and Auntie Fran decided Colton needed in on the fun

DSCN1319

Doesn’t he look happy?

Then on we went to Trina's for Christmas Eve for more time with cousins!

DSCN1359

This year we decided to come home on Christmas Eve and have Christmas morning at our house- and I’m so glad we did! I loved waking up with my family at home and having an easy morning here together!

DSCN1396

We opened LOTS of presents…

DSCN1404DSCN1388DSCN1384

and had some time to play…

DSCN1408

The kids made out like bandits- but I think my favorite present to give this year was Delaney’s Calico Critters house. I remember playing with the very same toys in my mom’s kitchen with my Grandma Margaret for hours. I’ve been waiting for her to be old enough and we’ve already had good times playing house!

Merry Christmas!
