Ryan's new toy

Yesterday my dad stopped by with a new toy for my husband (By the way- how wonderful is my daddy? He surprised me yesterday by coming down and eating lunch with me-which made my day in and of itself- but he also brought a new lawnmower for my hubby AND edged our lawn while he was here- Thanks Dad!) Ryan has been very excited to have a lawn and a yard to take care of- he's known for his green grass- and so the first thing he did today was fire up the new Toro mower and begin working his magic on our dilapidated lawn. I'm sure that in no time he'll have it up to snuff.

Swimming on the Farm

Well, we have finally unpacked most of the boxes so I decided to take a day off and go visit my parents on the farm and take the Laney Bug swimming. We had a great time- Delaney got to swim in the pool and the hot tub, pick flowers, try a whole lot of new food, and ride on the four wheeler with Grandpa. She was a tired girl when we got home and went straight to bed leaving me to enjoy the wonders of DVR and a glass of wine. Ryan gets home tomorrow after successfully completing his boards- he's been gone a week and we can't wait to have him home to start on the honey-do list I've been making while he's been away...

Isn't she a dork- she really thinks this is her best smile ever!

Happy Fathers Day Ryan

10 Reasons why Delaney has the bestest Daddy ever...

1. He reads to her every night before bed (and he even uses funny voices when he thinks I'm not listening)

2. He throws her around- which makes her laugh so hard she gets the hiccups.

3. He can't drive the stroller either!

4. He lets her solve problems on her own.

5. He has taught her the fine art of the sneak attack.

6. He has gone to college for eight long years so that he can not only bring home the bacon- but have the time to sit down and eat it with us too.

7. He lets her try a variety of culinary options (" she just wanted to see how dog food tastes...")

8. She'll always have bright, shiny teeth.

9. He lets her ride everywhere on his shoulders- and even lets her steer by holding onto his ears!

10. When she goes through that phase where she asks 100 questions like... Why does the sun shine? why do fish need water? etc. He will probably know all the right answers.

We love you daddy!!

A Little Nostalgia

I never thought I'd be saying this but I am finding that I'm a little sad to leave here. It has been a long 4 years but in that time we have made some good friends. My best friend up here, Ali, is having twin girls in October- and it is breaking my heart to leave her. She has been a really amazing friend to me these last few years- she is also an English teacher- and she has been there for me through thick and thin, I'm going to miss her so much!

I was also at my old school today for awhile, and my first class of students are graduating on Monday. They have grown up so much and there are a few special ones that I'm really going to miss- It has been so fun getting to watch them grow up and mature- most of them I had as Freshman and then again as Juniors and seeing them getting ready to go to college pulls at my heart. Makes me miss the classroom...

And, oddly enough, I'm going to miss this town (okay I'm really going to miss having Nordstroms close- but whatever) I'm also going to miss the apartment that we brought Delaney home to and the loop that we walked almost everyday- We have definitely made some good memories up here- But I can't wait to move back home and be closer to our friends and family!

Packing

The last two days at our house have been a frenzy of packing... I had no idea how much crap we have! When they were up this weekend my sister-in-law Fran told me that it was going to take a lot longer than I had planned, I told her that we pretty much packed in a day last time we moved, so how bad could it be. WELL, let me tell you, it can be BAD, VERY VERY BAD. Somehow it appears that we have had several visits from the too much crap fairy because it just keeps coming... and coming... and coming. I have found things that are still in the box from when we got married ( a warning to those of you registering for your wedding- be careful- someone just might buy you that popcorn popper you beeped just for fun and then you will have to haul it around with you- still in the box- for the next ten years. Think before you beep!) I have also learned that packing with a ten month old in next to impossible- she unpacks as quickly as I pack. And when she feels neglected she will just try to swallow a coin, or pieces of a garbage bag... DANGER! Tomorrow we are loading the UHAUL and then we hope to be in Hermiston early Friday afternoon- then we get to unpack.... (sigh)

GRADUATION !!!

That's right, it's officially Dr. Wieseler now. Saturday was Ryan's graduation from dental school!!! After 8 years of college he is no longer a student, no more homework or tests. I'm so proud of all the work he's done to get here- I can't believe we made it!!! Here are some pictures from the big day, a big thanks to all the friends and family that were able to make it up to help us celebrate.

( Delaney was a little unsure about the robe and hat- she almost didn't want to go see her daddy in all that crazy gear)
So now, this week we have to pack up and move, and then Ryan has to come back to Seattle to take his boards- the last hurdle before he gets his license. So if anyone's bored- I got some boxes you can pack! :)
